You know you’re getting old when…

A few of my favorite childhood movies made it back to the big screen in adaptations or updates. Sometimes the new flicks were fantastic, but others — especially one starring Megan Fox — made me want to retreat to childhood again.

Say what? A bad word on television?

Ever since the “nipple-gate” that was Janet Jackson’s wardrobe malfunction in the 2004 Super Bowl, network television has been trying to be utterly vigilant when it comes to being decent and politically correct.

I’m craving realistic food (and weight) expectations.

“TRL” had a good run on MTV — until it started down the slippery slope of celebrity drama. “The Real World” also fell victim to drama. Well, the drama on MTV isn’t entirely gone, but at least this year’s new lineup has some ingredients for success.

I swear I used to be a romantic and believed what Jane Austen and Walt Disney said about love. Then eighth grade happened. But watching “Dear John” this weekend maybe changed my mind again.

Young girls, please let us envy you.

We’ve all had those moments when we wish we could just go back to being a kid. But now, it seems more young girls are racing to grow up and do adult things.

I admit I often suffer from a “I tweet, therefore I am” mentality to my life. But in the past week, I’ve noticed how nonsensical it seems to send witty thoughts out to people who just simply don’t care.

What’s with the teen girl takeover?

Although I don’t think Congress would ever approve strapping them in flak jackets and sending them to Afghanistan, denizens of screeching tweens and teens may be just what we need to finally end the war on terror.
