Food: If you consider yourself in any way to be a fan of burgers, Bar 145 demands attention.145 allows customers to build their own burger by filling out a handy slip of paper, and the customization options are practically endless. There’s at least half a dozen options ranging from the type of roll, to the cheese, to what kind of seasoning rub you want on your patty. It’s all in your hands, so if the burger sucks, it’s probably on you.
For those who are of legal drinking age, Bar 145 typically has an interesting collection of beers on tap, ranging from Great Lakes Brewing Co. to more esoteric, seasonal beers from around the state. 145 also specializes in bourbon, and even features a Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Ale that is not for the faint of heart.
The up: From burgers made to your own specifications to a worthwhile collection of taps at the bar, Bar 145 is definitely worth visiting. Add in the live shows and trivia nights that are mainstays just about every week, and you’ll easily find yourself becoming a regular.
The down: Building your own burger and drinking an aged bourbon on the rocks isn’t cheap, but what you lose in cash, you make up for in quality.
Our call: Bar 145 is one of the integral pieces of Kent’s downtown bar scene and is definitely worth adding to your list of stops on your Friday night pub crawl.
