International Insights

In 2010, Brandon Stanton created his blog Humans of New York. This phenomenon of reporting the stories of average people has enlightened me. Stanton has met a number of human beings, many of whom have shared very intimate stories with him. This, to me, means he is the richest man in the world. I want to share students’ stories in the same way. In this blog, I’ll share the stories of international students at Kent State.

Food: Wild Goats offers a variety of dishes ranging from basic egg and toast meals to a wealth of omelettes, to more extravagant dishes such as jalapeño sausage or peanut butter and banana french toast. Besides the breakfast menu, there’s also plenty of burgers, deli sandwiches, salads and soups.

Price: $$

The up: The food is great, especially the breakfast items. For an all-around breakfast experience, order “the Scrambler.” It’s got scrambled eggs, bacon, hash browns and sausage gravy.

The down: The meals aren’t exactly priced for the frugal college student, so don’t expect to find yourself in a booth every morning. You’re definitely paying for quality, so you just need to decide if it’s in the budget.

Our call:

If you have the extra time (and funds) to spare before an early morning class, skip the coffee shop for once and have a sit-down breakfast. Wild Goats is just far enough away from campus that you’ll escape the hustle and bustle of morning traffic, and a hearty omelette might give you the peace of mind to get through the day. It’s not the cheapest option, but as an every-once-in-a-while treat, it works out great.
